Alternatively, follow the appropriate procedure for your version of Word: Word for Windows (2010 and 2007): Click the Insert tab. In the 'Text' area, select Date & Time. Uncheck Update automatically if it is checked, and then click OK. The date will be inserted into your document at the location of the cursor. When creating type for display on the web, consider that anti-aliasing greatly increases the number of colors in the original image. This limits your ability to reduce the number of colors in the image and thus to reduce the size of the image file. Anti-aliasing may also cause stray colors to appear along the edges of the type. When reducing file size and limiting the number of colors are most important, it may be preferable to avoid anti-aliasing, despite the jagged edges. Also, consider using larger type than you would use for print. Larger type is easier to view on the web and gives you more freedom in deciding whether to apply anti-aliasing. ![]() Getting your envelope to print correctly is sometimes difficult. You might accidentally print on the wrong side of the envelope or print it upside down. That’s due to the way your printer handles envelopes. Fortunately, you can simplify the process by telling Word how you feed the envelope into your printer. Click the Feed button. The Envelope Options dialog box opens to the Printing Options tab. Specify the way you will feed the envelope into your printer by clicking one of the buttons at the top. To change the direction of the envelope, click Clockwise rotation. If you have a separate tray in your printer for envelopes, you can specify that, too. Just click the drop-down box below Feed from. Once you’ve set your options, click OK. To change the size of your envelope, click the Options button on the Envelopes and Labels dialog box. Then click on the Envelope Options tab. Use the drop-down box labeled Envelope size to select the size of your envelope. If the correct size isn’t listed, select Custom size. Word will prompt you to enter the dimensions of your envelope. You can also change how far from the edge of the envelope your return and delivery addresses appear. Just use the selection boxes in the appropriate section to change this. Once you’re done specifying your options, click OK. You’re not locked into the default fonts for your envelope. In fact, you can choose any font, font style, and font color you desire. To change the fonts on your envelope, click the Font button on the Envelope Options tab in the Envelope Options dialog box. Keep in mind that you will need to specify the font for the return and delivery address individually. When you click the Font button, a dialog box will open showing you your font options (much like in a normal Word document). Simply choose your options and click OK. Most of the time, text direction won’t be an issue when using to write in English or another script that reads from left-to-right, since this is the default for most versions of Word. However, if your copy of Word comes from a region where are common, or if you’re a document that was originally written on a version of Word in which right-to-left scripts are the default, you could have a problem. Thankfully, there is a in Word to change the direction of text (unless you’re a Mac user, but we’ll get to that later). All you need to do is follow these instructions. Word for Windows In Word 2010 or later, if you have both left-to-right and right-to-left on your copy of Word, ‘LTR’ and ‘RTL’ buttons should be accessible via the ‘Paragraph’ section of the ‘Home’ tab. To change the font settings for your message list, open Outlook and click on the View tab. And use the Choose Font. Button under When composing and reading plain text: to select a bigger font.
